Eight

On June 4th, a beautiful sunny Saturday, Jorji turned 8! As you can imagine this has been a much anticipated birthday and the party and celebration had been in the making for awhile. Of course when Jordan first woke up on the morning of her big day she was a bit disappointed because she didn't "feel" any different now that she was eight. But when I looked at her, I saw a beautiful girl who looked so grown up, I barely recognized the little girl that she used to be.

Jordan is so lucky, June is a great month to have a birthday, the weather is always nice and everyone is ready to party!

Her birthday party was like a carnival this year with six different games we rotated through. The kids collected real carnival tickets for the games and then used the tickets to buy their prizes for their goodie bags. It could have been a disaster but it actually went sooooo smoothly . Jordan did a great job helping make the games and organize the party. Check out the apple tree game that she drew and painted for the party.
And of course there was a ton of time for playing on the slip n slide and jumping on the trampoline. Love this age, love these kids.

8 things about Jordan that we love:

1. Her easy going and sweet personality, she gets along with everyone.
2. She's not too old to sit on your lap at the movie theatre. Seriously. We went to kungfu Panda with Britt on her birthday and she sat on aunt B's lap for the last part. She's such a snuggler.
3. She is the best sister.....all the kids just light up when she gets home from school and that's when the fun begins.
4. Her creativity. She always has some project on the go and can make something out of nothing. If I have to make something, I often consult her first.
5. She is so talented. She participated in the Shuswap Music Festival this year for piano and performed three pieces and played like a pro. while competing against older kids. We were soooooooooo proud of her. She is also a rockstar on the soccer field.
6. She wants to try everything! And does. If there is a club to join at school, she'll join it. From choir to cross country running to the knitting club. If there is something to do, Jordan's there.
7. She loves to read and write books. The Diary of a Wimpy kid being her current favourite.
8. Her sense of humour. Jordan can seriously make us laugh. She's just a happy little girl that we all just love to have around. Happy Birthday kiddo, we sure love you!

P.S. As some of you may know, turning 8 means that she will be baptized soon. The big day is Saturday June 25th1
