(We hadn't been at our site for more than 5 minutes before Jordan was creating - the forest is a wonderful place to search for supplies)
August has been an amazing month. The weather has been fabulous and we've been trying to soak up every delicious moment of Jared being home with us. We went on two camping trips in the span of about a week and a half which was just perfect because we now feel that we've definitely had our fill. The first trip we went on was out to Heralds where we had a fantastic site that backed on to beautiful Shuswap Lake.

Two happy boys at the lake first thing in the morning. I was up with Ollie most of the night nursing so Jared was a doll and would take him in the morning. He said it was funny to see all the dads walking around the campground pushing strollers at 6 am. At least he had some company! Could there be a prettier spot on the lake to back onto? We seemed to have it to ourselves too!

Ollie has been such a little trooper this summer. He loves the water and is always happy to go for a little dip. Like I mentioned earlier, Oliver was NOT a champion sleeper on these trips but Jared discovered soon after being home that he had cut a little toofie! Good job buddie! And yes, we forgive you!
Mom and dad came up for a night and we had a great dinner, a beautiful hike to Margaret falls (in what looks like the pitch black! It wasn't) and a great campfire telling scary stories to the kids. One of our favourite games to play while camping is Telephone where we get to pass on challenging lines like this "I like jelly, I like pink." Jordan is the best story teller, her stories go on for about 15 mnutes and are always so clever...my favourite was the one that started like this "Once there was a girl named Karen, but they called her Aren for short.." Nate always wants to tell a story but he wants Jared to whisper the entire story in his ear and then he repeats it exactly. It's kind a hard way to listen to a story. Well, Nate did this one night, repeating Jared's complicated story for about 15 minutes and when it finally ended, he turned to Jared and said "Now you tell one dad!"
Some days I can't believe our little Jorji is going into grade three, but then I see pictures like this! Yup, she looks like a third grader to me.

Our second trip was to Scotch Creek, a classic. We love this campground. It is so great for biking, it has a great park for the kids and extremely private campground. Privacy is great when your baby is up at 5:00am every morning. Good thing Ollie's cute....and happy. I had so much fun playing soccer with Jordan and Nathan every morning, those kids have skills and nothing makes me happier than running around a field chasing a ball with them.

The water and weather as a little cooler at Scotch Creek but the ice cream sure was tasty!
So I think the kids have eaten enough marshmellows to last us the rest of the summer. I didn't realize how had the problem was until I told Nate he could have one more only to have him respond "But I've only had seven!"
