HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY JARED!!!!!!
On Saturday Jared reached the important milestone of turning 30!! To celebrate, I threw him a surprise 80's theme birthday party Saturday night! It's been a secretive week, full of secret phone calls, emails and facebooking, not to mention secret shopping, cooking and baking. But somehow, Jared managed to stay in the dark the whole time and seemed satisfied with the story that we were going out to Rosters (Sports bar in town) for wings on his birthday. The night of his party I pretended to go to a church meeting (relief society broadcast-the perfect excuse to get out of the house). Although I sensed a tiny bit of impatience that I was even going to the meeting, Jared being the easy going, good natured man that he is didn't seem to mind me going. So during the broadcast, I high tailed to my folks house to get ready for the party. Mom and dad were gracious enough to host the event. I couldn't figure out how to host a surprise birthday party at our house:) It was awesome, because Jared was genuinely surprised! We had a great night - full of visiting, games, and great food. Lots of great stories about Jared were shared and lots of laughs were had. To add to the surprise, I had gotten jared a costume to wear so he wouldn't be left out!
Why an 80's theme? I think this picture says it all! I love you Jared, thanks for being so much fun and the sexiest thirty-year old around!

It must have been hard for rockers to blow out their candles with all that hair!
Jared with his "Optimus Prime" cake! I didn't realise this but when I surprised him with the cake he said that it was his first Transformers cake! Finally at age 30, he got his Optimus Prime cake!

We can always count on Jody and Taylor for great costumes! Love the fanny pack.
Me with some of the sexy gals. Man the 80's were bad! Britty, of course had no idea what was "in" during the 80's. Finally after making several suggestions that related to the mid to late 90's, I finally asked her what year she was born in and upon hearing the answer, no longer took her advice!

Jared and his motley crue.
This was right after Jared demonstrated "the worm" during charades. I love this pic because it shows just how tight his jeans were!
After watching Jared thru out the night, I decided that he would have been a really hot 80's rocker!
This was Alex after correctly guessing right during "Name that Tune!" 80's edition.Posted by Picasa

After!!
Here are the kids after their new haircuts. Jordan's wasn't quite as dramatic as Nacey's. I wanted her to smile for the picture but she didn't want to wreck her hair by moving her head!
How quickly Nathan forgot the torture he had endured just moments earlier during "the cut." He forgives so easily!
Doesn't he look handsome?

Nathan's First Haircut: The Process......
Wow, I actually look like I know what I'm doing here, but actually mom was the real architect.
It took an icecream sandwich, costco trail mix, Britt, Dad and TreeHouse to keep this kid distracted and even then it was a struggle to get it done. I think his next cut will be while he's asleep!
When Nathan was full of treats, he stayed entertained by feeding them to me while mom finished the cut. We cut his hair a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night when Jared was at school. His hair was so long, it was a major event!

More Summer Fun! (Man...I am so behind in my blogging!)
It's a little hard to see but in these two pictures Jared is levitating. Actually he is jumping off a cliff into a lagoon but he thought he would strike a pose while in the air.
Doug and Bernice were gracious enough to watch all four kids at the beach while us Big kids went and played for a couple of hours, and play we did, we had so much fun!
Ryan and Lorelle came and and met us in Castlegar for a couple of nights. It's been almost a year since we've seen them, way too long! We had so much fun while they were there, playing at the beach, playing games at night and visiting and catching up. Thanks so much you guys for coming up! We miss you!
Us with Rob and Steph. It seems to be a yearly tradition that we meet Rob and Steph the last week in August in Castlegar. They spend the school year in Lethbridge and the summers up in Slave Lake slaving away. It's always fun to see them!

Natural Water Slide!
This was the most amazing thing! Just outside Castlegar, about 15 km from Siringa Provincial Park, up a dirt road, is this natural waterslide. The rocks have been eroded to the point of smoothness. It's about a 25 ft slide that drops into a breathtakingly beautiful lagoon. We went with Rob & Steph and Lorelle & Ryan. We were the only ones there and we had so much fun exploring and playing.
Yeeha!
The water at the bottom is cold, C-O-L-D!
AWHH!

Nathan about to slap Jared's chest. Look at Nathan's hair! It got so long this summer! It was so cute, I couldn't bring myself to cut it because he looked like a little beach boy with his bleached white hair.
Boys will be boys. Jared, Rob and Ryan had fun playing on the beach.
Daddy and Nacey on the dumdeedo.

While we were in Castlegar the last week of August, Jordan really wanted to have a wedding. So we had one! She didn't seem to mind the groom had left that morning (Aidan), she was just thrilled to wear a veil and have all the attention on her. Grandma and Grandpa went all out. Grandma got a wedding cake and Doug got her a veil and jewelry.
Jordan throwing the bouquet, congratulations Steph!
Cuttin' a run with Uncle Rob at the reception.
We danced late into the night until it was time for the bride to go brush her teeth, put on her PJ's and have a story. I'm so glad we still have Jordan all to ourselves for another 20 years or so!
