UPDATE!

As of Thursday, Jorji can officially ride a bike! She can stop and start on her own and turns like a pro. We have definitely entered a new stage of life with a bike rider and we can't wait to ride with her.
In other news, When I went to get Lucy this morning from her crib, she had rolled onto her stomach and was happily looking up at me. So cute!

Calaway Park

On our way home from Calgary a couple of weeks ago, we stopped off at Calaway Park and had an absolute blast! It was the first amusement park we've been to as a family and Nathan kept calling it Disneyland. This park is pretty amazing as it caters so well to the little ones. Even Nathan was tall enough for quite a few rides, he was in heaven riding, trucks, planes, trains, horses, boats ect. Jordan was big enough for some of the more challenging rides and loved this one with dad.

We were also able to catch the show "Fairytale Idol," which featured princesses and villains singing and competing to be the next 'fairytale' idol. In the end of course, they all won. What a rip off, Cinderella was by far the best:) At the end of the night, the kids were sad to be leaving their new little heaven on earth but were happy but were easily consoled with an oversized lollipop. Nathan was asleep by the end of the parking lot. Never underestimate the power of the lollipop.

This was Nathan's favourite ride. The trucks. Luckily we discovered it at the end of the day so only time to ride it 3 times in a row!

Unfortunately for Lucy, this is pretty much how the day went for her. haha. If you're wondering why she is wearing only a diaper and a hoody at Calaway Park, use your imagination. She always picks the most opportune time to make a mess!

Grandpa Hill's funeral, June 14, 2008

The Hill Cousins

On June 14, the entire Hill clan, minus one cousin (we missed you Chrissy!) congregated in Calgary, Alberta for our sweet Grandpa Hill's funeral service. Grandma and Grandpa had three daughters (below), yet had 19 grandchildren and now have 24 great grand-children! It was a wonderful weekend together celebrating Grandpa's life. Our cousins on both sides of the family have always been a major part of our lives and I look forward to our kids having the same relationships with their cousins (some of sibblings just have to get on it:) During the service, the grandkids, under the direction of Jess sang the hymn "Be Still My Soul," it was such a touching experience to be a part of. What a wonderful legacy Grandpa has left!

The entire original family, as we like to call it, without the pesky spouses and kids. Just kidding! I was so happy to have my wonderful husband there for support, he was soooooo much help with the kids while I was busy.

Jorji turns 5!

Our little baby girl turned 5 on June 4th! I can't believe it's been five years since we we drove to the Katy, Texas Hospital completely thrilled, scared, overwhelmed and excited to have our first baby. It's been a great ride with Jorji, she makes us laugh everyday with the things she says. The other day she said to me "Mom, I want to be just like you when I grow up" "Really?" I'm beaming. "Yeah because you are really tricky at hide and seek and have big muscles and can carry big things." Ah shucks Jordan. I always knew I rocked at Hide and Seek and now it's finally been confirmed.

For her birthday present, jared and I got her this new hot rod without training wheels. She's been practicing hard and it won't be long until she is riding on her own. We had a great family birthday on the 4th. At her request, I was going to make ribs and twice baked potatoes which are her favourite (for better or for worse, she has somewhat sophisticated taste) but at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I hadn't started cooking yet and Jared was at a meeting I had a brilliant idea and asked her if she wanted to go to McDonalds for her birthday dinner. Of course she thought that was the best idea ever. Whew.
The day after her birthday she had her kindergarten orientation. Two huge milestones in one week. She loved going to "kindergarten" and is very excited to be going in French Immersion or as Jordan calls it French Imbersion. We had her friend party on the weekend...

What's a party with the Nank?

The kids had a great time playing games, exploring Jordan's toys, eating pizza and having cake. The Salmon's made a special visit from Vernon and we had so much fun spending the day with them. Thanks guys, we love ya!

Lightle Girls Weekend......with Jared and Nathan

At the end of may, Bernice invited us to a girls weekend at Casa Loma Resort on Okanagan Lake in Kelowna. It was for her four sisters and their daughters and daughter-in-laws and grand-daughters. For the first day and night, Nathan was the only boy there but didn't seem to mind:) Saturday after Jared's meetings, he came too! It had been way too long since we had since his sisters! They met Lucy for the first time and we got to see how grown up Karla's little Kenzie is! We played on the beach, ate great food, visited and played cards all weekend. We learned a great new card game called 'Lou', which we've already introduced to some friends. It resembles a gambling game but only requires $2.00 so it's all good:) It was a great kick-off to the summer (Now we just need some sun...)! Thank you so much Bernice for a great trip!
