Happy Canada Day Everyone!
This was how we spent the day:
This was how we spent the day:
We love Shuswap lake. What a great way to spend Canada day! We are so lucky to have this five minutes from our house (okay, well maybe it's more like seven).
Here's a little update on all of our darling children. Instead of packing for our little trip tomorrow (I will do anything to get out of getting ready for a trip), I'm going to blog because that's how I roll. At first i was feeling guilty because I thought Jared was working hard getting ready for the trip but he just came downstairs and announced that he's done nothing for the trip and was just searching the web for the goriest movies of all time. Atta boy. We both love packing. Lucy is talking up a storm and is becoming quite the little firecracker. Here is what she is saying: "I do" when she wants something, "there it is" which sounds more like "di di dis" but she totally uses it in the write context, "grandma", "ball", "puppy", "hi", "thank you", "buy". "excuse me" and more but that's what comes to mind. She is also a bonafide baby who loves her soozie, her blankie and her bottle (the first of all our kids to have a bottle, she started taking one at 11 months, the exact age in which I later learned we should be weaning her from a bottle, I'm an awesome mom). We're thinking it's time to kick one of her habits but she is just so adorable with them and isn't particularly addicted to any of them, just loves them. About a month ago when Aunt Barb was watching the kids while I was working she left this note for me (jared gets home before me on those days):
At the end of the phone messages "P.S. Lucy now knows how to climb up on chairs, stools and toilets! Good luck!" That about sums up life with Lucy at the moment, a truly social butterfly who loves to get into things. By the way, more pics of Lucy in all her chunkiness on the way.

Nathan is turning into the little comedian in our family. Of course he's never shy with us but he does have the habit of hiding under the bed or in the closet when someone new comes around (usually relatives he hasn't seen in awhile, babysitters etc, never people with kids.), he'll hide sometimes for 30 minutes or more. When he's ready he comes out and announces to everyone "ok, I'm not shy anymore" and goes about his business. He loves all things boy - especially transformers. Jared's old box of transformers has been officially ransacked by nathan and he carries at least three around with him everywhere he goes. When we were reading "Beauty and the Beast' the other night" I read a line that went something like this "and the prince turned into a hideous creature"or something of that nature and Nathan said "you mean transform, mom" "what?" I asked , he replied "you mean transformed into a creature." He loves those things One day when I was working, Aunt Barb said that Nathan walked into the kitchen, whipped down his pants, pointed to his you-know-what and said "this is my snake", pulled his pants up again and walked downstairs. That's our boy. He is growing too fast and that is why I am really trying to savour moments like him coming in our room really early in the morning because he can't find his ninja costume, because I know that moments like those are fleeting (whew!).
Our little jorji is off to a great start being a six year old. She has started practicing diving in the pool and while I was at my soccer game last night, mom said that she was doing flips in the pool! The girl is fearless and so strong. The other day i asked her something and she replied " I can't remember mom, but that's because I'm six now, I'm getting older so I forget things"

Ok, can someone please tell me where June went??
As teachers, Jared and I are used to June being a crazy month full of field trips, report cards and other year end festivities but throw a school-aged kid who goes to school in there and it becomes even crazier. The good news: Jordan aced kindergarten and Jared and I successfully ended our teaching years, got everything done that was needed and are now staring at a 10 week long summer holiday right in the face! The joy of being teachers, that and getting cool gifts at the end of the year. Here is a recap of our wonderful June.

Jordan's last day of kindergarten, so sad and happy at the same time. Sad because we will miss the friendships that we have all made (the moms of the afternoon kindies rocked) but happy because she did so well and is so ready for grade 1. This is a picture of her getting her exit-envelope with her report card and the work she's done from Mme Styles (aka my best friend Em, I know it's nuts). Kind of like a graduation. Ok, well not really. Here's the real reason I snapped this picture: Guilt. Pure guilt. On the last day of school, Jordan's class was presenting their class play "La petite coccinelle" at 1:15. Because I'm the best mom ever, i rolled into the parking lot at about that time with nathan and lucy and ended up missing most of the 7 minute long play. Darn it. So no pictures of our darling six year old reciting her lines that she has been memorizing for a month. Fortunately, I brought my grade three class the day before to see them do their dress rehearsal, so I did actually see the play. See? I'm actually not the worse mom ever.
Jordan and Nathan met Bridget, a baby anaconda that loved to be held my kindergarteners amd toddlers.

The herd of little brothers and sisters. At the end of the day we finished off at Polson for a picnic and quick play at the waterpark before bussing back to S.A.. Jordan is always thrilled when she gets to ride a school bus. That in itself would be a very enjoyable field trip.
Dad celebrated his birthday June 7th. We were happy to join mom, dad, and Zach for a pool party, barbeque and cake. Lucy loves cake and learned to lick her plate from her father. One of Lucy's favourite things to do at mom and dad's is chase Cheka around the house and yard. She can now say "Cheka." Unfortunately, Cheka does enjoy Lucy as much as lucy enjoys her, but

Jordan's class went to the science centre in Vernon for their year end field trip. A bunch of us brought our other kids which is always pretty risky, but it ended up being just a great time.

What great looking parents!

I can't lie, Jordan's got mad skills.

The middle of June also marked the end of Jordan's soccer season (fortunately not mine, mine goes till August). I must admit, I was in heaven coaching Jordan's soccer team every saturday morning, nothing I would rather be doing on an early, crisp, sunny morning. This picture was after it was announced that "the bumblebees" won the girls U6 league, Jordan was thrilled! Just kidding. This picture was actually taken after it was announced that everybody gets a freezie! I loved our little "bumblebees."

I have no pictures to prove it, but Caleb and Kailey came for a visit at the end of the month too. It was great to see the newlyweds and the kids love "funny Caleb." Jared and I had fun reminiscing with Caleb and Kailey about our trips to Maui and in particular our trips to "little beach." That's right Caleb.
