The King Girls

The King girls looking their best Easter Sunday. We desperately tried to get Nathan to participate in the photo shoot, but he is a two year old boy with a mind of his own and we'll just leave it at that. We had a busy Easter weekend! On Friday we went to Silver Star and stayed the night with mom and dad and "Grandma's little house." Jared went skiing and we took the kids to a movie, we all went hot tubbing and to the fireworks! I can't believe mom and dad wanted us all up there with them!! I thought it was quite brave of them. On Saturday, we accomplished the final task on our list of things to do in March (moving, have baby etc) and that was to purchase a van! We bought a 2006 dodge caravan privately from a nice family in Lake Country for a smoking deal and are so far enjoying van life. On Sunday morning we packed up the van and headed back to Vernon for Easter with my parents. It was actually kind of fun being "visitors" in Vernon, although it will always feel like home.

The kids had fun dyeing Easter eggs...despite the egg dyeing incident of 2008 where we learned just how porous travertine is.

Jordan has the best nickname for Nathan that we've sort of adopted - "Uncle Nanky", Jared has shortened it to just "Nank". I love this picture of our Nank.

The Hunt!

On Easter morning, we drove to Vernon to go to church at our old ward (wierd saying that). I know it's only been a few weeks but we wanted to see friends and family and show off little Lucy. She was a hit! I dressed her up in a beautiful little Easter dress, but being only two and a half weeks old, she spent most of the morning wrapped snuggly in a blanket.
After church, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Lee's for dinner and a sleepover (thanks guys, we had a great time!). Mom had hid eggs all over the house and the kids didn't even have their shoes off before they noticed
and began the hunt!

One of the best parts about having a newborn is watching them sleep. Fortunately for us, this is one of the things that Lucy does best - sleep! It is nearly impossible to not be constantly snapping pictures of her because she changes and grows daily, while she sleeps it seems. Lucy has had a great first three weeks of life. So far, she's been a fantastic little baby, rarely cries and sleeps very well (of course we know all too well, that this can all change:). There is nothing like holding a sleeping newborn, and she has enjoyed a lot of cuddling time from her family, aunt and grandma and grandpa Lee and other admirerers.

Jordan and Nathan both smiled at about a month, so last Sunday when Lucy was only about ten days old, we were all so surprised to see her smile at my dad - a real smile (not just accompanied by gas:)! This past weekend she had some more smiling time, this time at me and Grandma! It doesn't last long, but when it does, you just want to eat her up!

As she grows, she's having more and more wake time during the day (and night). She's very alert when she is up and moves her head around following the familiar voices of Jordan and Nathan. She is a pretty strong little girl and is holding her head up more and more. She seems to be a pretty easy going content little baby. I guess when you are the third child you have no choice to be a little patient. And she is...we love her so much!

These were taken a few days after she was home. Tomorrow she'll be two weeks old!! Jared is home right now for his two week spring break!! It's so nice to have him home to help get settled into the new house and take care of the new baby:)

Introducing little Lucy Emilee King.....

We're thrilled!

Two days before her due date and three days after we moved to our new house in our new little city, Lucy Emilee King made the uteral journey into our lives. She would have been born earlier in the day, however, late the night before Andi was turned away from the Salmon Arm Hospital for reasons we don't want to get into right now. Let's just say that the nurse's welcome was colder than a Calgary mid-winter day. So we went home and Andi woke me up early the next morning (after an amazing 4 hours of sleep) and we packed her bags and headed to the Vernon hospital while my parents watched our other two adorable kids. Shortly after arriving at the hospital Andi was informed that she needed to be induced because her water had broken and at 11:30am the process of induction commenced and a few hours of endorphic pain, Andi delivered our 8lbs 8 oz Lucy at 4:28pm. Andi was amazing throughout the entire process and only a few times did she squeeze my neck so tight that I let out a little wimper. She is recovering well at our new home where our new ward has welcomed us with open arms and provided us with meals and loads of love and support. We are so happy and blessed to be where we are and to have our new little Lucy join our wonderful family. We would like to thank both parents and families for their tremendous support and help during the move and Jocelyn for spending a few days with Andi watching the kids while Andi recouperated and took care of Lucy.
