Wow! What a weekend! For the May long weekend we packed up the kids and what seemed like half of what we own and headed out with our good friends, the Salmons, to Scotch Creek Provincial Park (on Shuswap Lake) for fun and frolic in the woods! We had an amazing time! I picked up Jared after school on Friday and we headed out in hopes of getting a campsite at the popular park. When we initially got there it was full, and so, disappointed but still optimistic we headed out to find another campground. We drove through our second choice and were hugely disappointed with it (basically just an RV park) so we drove back to the Provincial Park to get a list of some other places. Jared ran out and asked park employee for a list but the man then told Jared to get back in line because he figured a spot might be opening up. It turns out May long weekend is "family" weekend so at the park employees distretion, they can turn away anyone who looks like they might disrupt the family atmostphere. So they did infact turn away a truck load of guys (from Alberta nonetheless:), opening up a spot for us and our friends. We were so happy! The park is amazing! I haven't been there in over ten years and had forgotten just how spectacular it is. The kids had a fabulous time. Jordan and Bella (her buddy) rode their bikes constantly. We think they would even pretend like they had to go to the bathroom so one of us would take them for a ride on their bikes! We spent most of the time playing with the kids at the park, rollerblading, kayaking and hanging out at the beach, cooking (food is always so good outside) and visiting. The kids loved playing in the tents and Nathan nad James (our friends 3 year old son) loved trying to escape the site but running as fast as they could down the road. It was fantastic and well worth the time it took to prepare for the trip and clean up from the trip:) Nights were a little rough with the kids, but they more than made up for it during the day! We sense a May long weekend tradition in the making!
